Tania Tupu Ngati Porou

Tania has been quietly designing and creating contemporary Maori, and Pacific-inspired jewellery for galleries across New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific since 2006.

Tania Tupu Jewellery is located in Titahi Bay, Porirua, and her gallery is situated by the picturesque beachside settlement. Aloha Friday Coffee + Gallery is opposite the main entrance to the beach. It is open seven days a week, serves Raglan Roast Coffee, and displays a selection of Tania's current designs.

Tania is an aspiring businesswoman who has combined her jewellery manufacturing with retailing. She opened her first retail store in Raglan from 2004 to 2011, another one in Nelson from 2007 to 2014, and then worked at The Great War Exhibition from 2014 to 2018. Fast forward to 2024, Tania is now the General Manager of Te Papa Stores at New Zealand's National Museum.

Tania was part of the Tall Ferns-NZ Women's Basketball team from 1992 to 2004, and she proudly wore the black jersey during the Sydney and Athens Olympic games. Tania, along with her husband Chris Tupu (who played for the Tall Blacks from 1991 to 2000), is actively involved in coaching juniors and school-aged children in Wellington and continues to give back to the sport of basketball. Tania is currently the Head Coach of the Tokomanawa Queens in the Women's Professional Tauihi League.
