What's Up with Tee

Tania Tupu (Ngāti Porou) is a renowned Māori artist and designer creating contemporary Māori and Pacific-inspired jewellery. Her work has been showcased in galleries across New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific since 2006.

Located in the picturesque Titahi Bay, Porirua, Tania's gallery is a short stroll from the beach. Her designs can be viewed at Aloha Friday Coffee + Gallery, situated opposite the main beach entrance. This gallery, open seven days a week, also serves Raglan Roast Coffee.

A skilled businesswoman, Tania has a strong background in both jewellery design and retail. She previously operated retail stores in Raglan (2004-2011) and Nelson (2007-2014), and contributed to The Great War Exhibition from 2014 to 2018. Currently, Tania is the General Manager of Te Papa Stores at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.

Beyond her artistic pursuits, Tania is a former professional basketball player. She proudly represented New Zealand as a Tall Fern from 1992 to 2004, competing in both the Sydney and Athens Olympic Games. Alongside her husband, former Tall Black Chris Tupu, Tania is dedicated to coaching junior and school-aged basketball players in Wellington. She currently serves as the Head Coach of the Tokomanawa Queens in the Women's Professional Tauihi League.
